To Strike Saint Augustine

There is something so special when creative people get together. It feels like a million tiny atoms bouncing off the walls. It is chaotic and stressful, yet natural. We laugh, we scowl, we hate things, or we love things. We feel so passionately about stuff that sometimes we even butt heads. All for the sake of being creative. Yet at the end of the day, here we are with a sense of pride in our chest as we hold these magazines in our hands.

All the blood, sweat and tears just to stand here and say “we made that.” Emphasis on the “we”. Internal or external staff, without either, there would be none of this. Nothing to have pride in, nothing to show our grandkids how cool we were in college – it would all cease to exist. Every single person is vital to the lifeline of Strike Magazine.

I never thought I’d be writing about how important it is for creative people to work together. I never considered myself one till recent years. Yet, being here and being a part of this, I feel like I have a purpose. It doesn’t matter what I’ve gone through before, or the heart break I’ve experienced, every single emotion that prompted me to write led me here, to all of you.

I promise to do right by your side, and apologize for the times I may lack behind. Though I haven’t been on staff for a long time, I hope you can recognize my devotion to our community. I want you to feel safe around me, and smile knowing I have your back. At the end of the day, a title is just a title, and we are all just people trying to get by.
